Using Social Media To Advertise Online

Social media is the buzz in the advertising and marketing world, and nowhere is this talked about more than on social media itself.  Facebook is currently one of the fastest growing companies; Twitter has played a vital role in revolutions both successful and unsuccessful.  But the question is, what places does social media have in the mortgage industry?

The mortgage industry is huge and thus social media should be utilized.  All of the social media platforms are free to use so why not take advantage of using them.  There has never been a time when companies could advertise completely for free and be able to reach so many people at one time.  Blogs are a great way to advertise as well.  Writing frequently about interesting topics – industry related or not – brings more traffic to your site and more traffic equates to more leads and, ultimately more conversions.  Become personable with the people who are following your blogs or on your other social media platforms so they feel comfortable with you.  Give your followers insight into the industry and not just the basic information that they can get from somewhere else.

Twitter is a great place for companies because it allows people to express concerns and rant and rave about service.  It is a place to share bits of information and a place to ask questions.  For a business, Twitter is all these things plus much more.  Twitter is not only a portal into what people are saying about you as a company, but it is also a great place to seek out people who have questions about your business and to give you a chance to respond to those questions.

Social media provides an active avenue to put a face and a voice to your mortgage department.  It also allows for consumers to become co-creators of innovation by responding to lenders and providing immediate input about what type of service they are inquiring about.  With proper usage, you will end up saving money from your advertising budget while keeping members informed and engaged with one simple click.
